HOW PLAYERS AND OWNERS HAVE TO COME TOGETHER

If we hope to see the NBA lockout come to an end, and the players and coaches getting back on the court for practice and pre season games for the season, the only way this is going to happen, is if both the players and the owners come together, and come to an agreement as far as the lockout situation. THE BEST WAYS TO SOLVE THE CURRENT DILEMMA IN THE NBA

The best ways to solve the current labor issues in the NBA is for both sides to get together in a room and talk. It-s billionaire owners against millionaire players and in reality both sides need each other. The owners need the players to fill their arenas and to actually have a product and the players need the owners to pay their salaries. HOW THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WORKS FOR NBA PLAYERS

The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is a contract that the NBA is under. The rules of the players’ contracts, trades, revenue distribution, the Draft, and the salary cap is how it is dictated. Since the CBA expired, (causing the infamous lockout) players, coaches, owners are trying to agree on a new one. Not much has changed between the 1999 and 2005 versions of the CBA, in terms of the salary cap. Since they agreed on the player age minimum, players will get a bit higher percentage of the League’s profit. In addition, the League’s maximum slightly decreased compared to the 1999 CBA. (more…)

IS THERE GOING TO BE A 2011/2012 NBA SEASON?

There is a lot of speculation that there will not be a 2011/2012 NBA season but I believe there will be. The same question was posed this summer in regards to the NFL and they worked things out and were able to save the season and I think the NBA will too. The only difference is that I think the NBA will not play a full season, I-m thinking it will be more like the 50 game season we had in the 1998/1999 season.
